BCI Better Cotton Initiative

Since 2019 Adwin joined BCI as a member, achieving the vision of a world where Better Cotton is the norm and cotton farmers and their communities thrive taking a holistic approach and a rigorous standard to match.

A critical component of the Better Cotton Standard System is the Better Cotton Principles and Criteria, which lay out the global definition of Better Cotton through seven guiding principles.

By following these principles, Better Cotton Farmers produce cotton in a way that is better for themselves, their communities, and the environment.

Organic Cotton

Organic cotton is not only soft and comfortable to wear but also good for the environment.

It is grown without chemicals and without the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, or defoliants.

By reducing the amount of chemicals placed into the earth, we are decreasing pollution in the air, water, and preventing the mixture of chemicals into soil, which in turn affects future vegetation and animal life.

UNIFI Repreve™ - Recycled Polyester

Repreve is a leading producer of synthetic fibers made from recycled materials including used water bottles. Repreve’s goal is to enhance the value of everyday things by minimizing energy consumption and conserving petroleum-based resources that require newly refined crude oils.

For every pound of Repreve yarn produced, half a gallon of gasoline is conserved.

The making of Repreve polyester yarn uses all recycled materials and eliminates 6 out of the 9 phases typically required to make non-recycled polyester. This decreases waste in landfills and reduces our refining footprint.

LENZING™ ECOVERO™

LENZING™ ECOVERO™ branded viscose fibers are the new standard for eco-responsible viscose in the fashion industry. Throughout the production process, it follows the principle of "take less, give more" - for our planet and our customers.

As compared with generic viscose, the production of LENZING™ ECOVERO™ has a substantially smaller environmental footprint.

Adwin strives to help build a cleaner and greener world by taking less from the environment, maximizing resource efficiency, and minimizing waste in the production process.

HEMP

Hemp production is one of the easiest to achieve since it requires no pesticides or herbicides. Unlike other plants, hemp does not have a high water requirement since it is able to nurture itself with the deep subsoil moisture.

Hemp fibers are known to be the first plant used for textiles.

Hemp grows very quickly and produces a textile that is strong, lustrous, and mildew-resistant.

In addition, hemp is able to better serve clothing needs by providing garments that block the sun’s UV rays, become softer with use, and are machine washable.

Black Dry

Redefining BLACK with Sustainability

Black Dry technology uses 100% water-free and process chemical-free textile processing to dye the black color yarn.

No process chemicals, no water, no wastewater, and therefore no wastewater treatment is necessary.

Compared with the traditional piece dye process, not only does the BlackDry fabric perform outstanding colorfastness and avoid the big dye-lots difference, but you can also imagine how much water and dyestuff pollution we can save by choosing the BlackDry fabrics.
